Huntsville, AL Trip
Blast Off to the Rocket City!
Huntsville, Alabama is the Nation’s biggest technology hub, and is consistently hiring more college STEM graduates than any other city in the United States (even more than Silicon Valley!). The city is nicknamed "The Rocket City" for its close history with U.S. space missions. Huntsville has been important in developing space technology since the 1950s.
US Space and Rocket Center
Students will spend an indepth, 6 hour study, at the US Space and Rocket Center. This educational center predates NASA, and is an in-depth study of mathematics, engineering and technology. During the visit, students will gain entrance to the US Space and Rocket Center and will take a tour of both the Shuttle Park and Rocket Park. Students will experience public museum simulators, and then will go through a hands-on laboratory with a Center instructor, witness a live presentation and enjoy an IMAX Movie experience. Lunch and dinner will be provided during the trip, and trip can be catered to 6th or 7th grade GSE standards.
*This field trip is experienced as a day trip for Atlanta schools; however, ask about an overnight trip to Huntsville to add the Hudson-Alpha Institute and the University of Alabama, Huntsville to deepen student learning and understanding of GSE standards.
